Liz Surgery Update, plus No Comic

Posted at 09:31 PM on Wednesday, December 3, 2003

Hey all.. just wanted to drop you a line to let you know how things went with Liz today. First off, I should mention that there won't be a comic tomorrow (thursday), as I've spent most of today trying to take care of things to make sure Liz is doing okay. She's kind of a priority to me, you'll understand.

Everything went wonderfully this morning with the surgery. It took them a bit longer to actually get her into the O.R. than it really needed to, but once she was in there, it only lasted about half an hour, and 20 minutes later we were getting her in the car to take her home. Despite her being a rather nervous patient, she did amazingly well, and wasn't really worried about any of it. She's started to have the pain everyone has after coming off anesthetic, but the painkillers are taking care of it, and all in all she's doing excellent, which is a HUGE relief. Your support meant a lot to her.

Anyway, i'll be back to work tomorrow, which means unlimited amounts of time to sit and work on the comic, like usual. I'm also trying to get the support group gift done, but this past week so far has been only slightly conducive to it. I should porbably just say what it is... I came up with the idea for a set of greeting cards from the perspective of haX0rz, called "l33tgr33tz". I have three done at the moment, and they're pretty cute. It's the drawing of the artwork that's taken most of my time. This set is going to include 6 cards, for Valentine's Day, Christmas, Birthday, Congratulations, Get Well Soon, and an Apology. I'm gonna get 'em into .pdf like the magic cards, but all in all it should be pretty cute, and in time for the holidays as well. So, yeah. That's that.

While you're busy not reading the comic today though, it would behoove you to visit Penny Arcade (link on the left). They've set up the Child's Play Amazon wishlist, benefitting the Seattle Children's hospital. They've already managed to bring in over $30,000 worth of games and toys, but I see no reason that it has to stop there. If you can afford to help out, this is one hell of a charity, and it makes me really happy to see their readers banding together like that to help out those kids. Here's to hoping they manage to get everything on their list. :)

That's all for now. It's just been one of those long, weird days, and I'm anxious for it to be over. See you guys tomorrow.
