Oh great googly moogly.

So, as you all know, I'm no stranger to server problems. It seems like once a week, this place crashes like a six year old coming off of a sugar high. So, it was of course NO surprise to me when things went south over the weekend. Bits and pieces of the site start disappearing, it's usually my clue that something has gone awry, and 9 times out of 10 that means I can't do crap to upload the comic. (it's really more like 10 out of 10 - but I want to keep from overgeneralizing) Usually when this kind of thing happens, me updating the site actually causes it to crash completely. (Quick synopsis for the geeks : Weve got a caching system set up so the site generates the page on one server, essentially, and stores it in memory on another. Usually, the first server is the one that breaks, so if I do nothing, at least we have the cached version on the second. If i try to update it, the second server pulls down gibberish or nothing from the first, and then stores THAT instead, displaying a lovely error page.) So, I figure something is better than nothing at all.

Only now, I discover through poking around that somehow, I can still make changes. And it doesn't make things go blooey. And while I'm happy, because this means I can update and stuff, I'm also alternately angry and feeling stupid, because I've been avoiding updating, and furthermore because tomorrow's comic is on my laptop, which I've so brilliantly chosen to leave at work today.

Stick with me for a little while longer, folks. Things are going to get better very soon. I promise. But regardless of whatever else happens, at least I have a comic to post. Check on Thursday - it'll be there. I've got a lot on my plate right now, but the comic is too important to let go like this.
