Panel 1
Liz: Well? How did your first injection go?
Mae: Fine, I guess.

Panel 2
Liz: You guess?
Mae: Well, I was under the impression that subcutaneous shots used a super small-gauge needle. Folks online mentioned a 25-gauge needle.
Liz: Oh wow, that’s even bigger than I was expecting. When I was doing insulin while I was pregnant, it was like a 30-gauge needle or something.

Panel 3
Mae: Right. So… I was a little surprised to see that they’d given me 22-gauge needles.
Liz: Oh, wow.
Mae: One and a half inch-long 22 gauge needles.
Liz: Oh, WOW.

Panel 4
Liz: I’m thinking maybe we get you some smaller needles, yeah?
Mae: I could probably just use a drinking straw - it would be a little smaller.
