Panel 1
Pharmacist: I’m sorry Mr. Dean, your insurance is still reviewing the new prescription.
Mae: *sigh* MRS. Dean.
Pharmacist: Oh, sorry. Mrs. Dean.

Panel 2
Mae: I just don’t understand - it’s been two days. How are they still reviewing it?
Pharmacist: Well, because it’s a new prescription, and technically an off-label use, they need to get a prior authorization from your doctor.
Mae: Buuuuut… she prescribed it. In what way is that not an authorization?

Panel 3
Pharmacist: Oh, it’s just a form that needs to be submitted. Our system sent the request to their office yesterday, and we’re just waiting for them to follow up. If you’re in a hurry, you can call your doctor and ask them to follow up sooner.
Mae: So… I need to call my doctor up in order to ask her to send in the prescription she already prescribed, except this time let them know she really, really means it?

Panel 4
Pharmacist: Well, I mean, it sounds silly when you put it like that.
Mae: I look forward to hearing you phrase it in such a way that it wouldn’t.
